We are excited to share that we’ve been accepted to Ma Earth’s 3rd funding round to support Serian Sanctuary, our 10-acre land home, where we’re learning and experimenting with land based skills, communal living, earth-centred governance, economies, and practices. The funding round runs from July 1-31, 2026.
This funding round will resource our land restoration and the setting up of critical infrastructure so that East Afrikan movement workers can be with the land, learn land based skills and heal. Our 9-month rehabilitation project will transform the degraded landscape through rainwater catchment swales, terraces and gabions, invasive plant removal, and planting deep-rooted grasses to stabilise soil & slow down water loss. We’ll also plant 1,000 indigenous, fruit and medicinal trees to rediversify the land. As the forest grows it will anchor ceremony space and sanctuary on the land for human and more-than-human beings.
With Ma Earth’s quadratic funding model, the more unique donations we have, the more matching funds we unlock i.e. 100 donors of 10 each unlocks more matched funds than 5 of 200 each, rewarding projects with broad community support. Our goal is $15,000 and 200 contributors to unlock $15,000 in matching funds to resource this process.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us reach more people and unlock additional matching funds.
