“Tending our Roots – Nourishing the Foundations for Regenerative Life” is the foundational course by fromtheroots.

It is a deep dive into the 4 roots of the fromtheroots framework, teaching us tools, practices and frameworks that will deepen our sense of being held in and able to navigate from our being (core), our belonging (community), our sense of purpose (calling) and where we are in time and space (cycles).

The course will invite and equip you to step firmly into the soil of your life, sink your roots deep and from there navigate personal and world cycles with grace and stamina.

This course has as its motivation the belief that, unrooted or rooted in dominant oppressive system’s false roots, we will simply reproduce the system and its pain and injustice.

The work of creating just regenerative futures is the work of a long haul and requires us to have different roots if we are to bring about different fruits.

Over the course duration, you will learn somatic, energetic and ritual tools and practices, engage in teachings on regeneration, reflective exercises, creative and movement practices, small and large group or partner work, and be invited into practical experiments to tend and nourish each of your roots.

Cost

This course runs on a sliding scale. A sliding scale offers a range of price points to allow differently resourced people to participate and is a practice of economic justice. On my sliding scale, lower costs represent a contribution from a low-income individual who would like to participate but for whom higher costs represent a sacrifice or a hardship* [for a discussion of hardship vs sacrifice see this post]. Higher costs represent a contribution from a comfortable-income individual, and one which supports our community and my being able to offer lower costs through redistributing wealth. When you choose a rate that is higher on the scale you are enabling scholarships and reduced costs for others.

Part of my activist practice is to rebuild community, and this means rebuilding other kinds of relationships based on trust and honesty. When I offer a sliding scale I am choosing to trust that you will self assess in an honest way and ground your decision in consideration of my needs as well as your broader resources rather than in either scarcity, or a false generosity that causes hardship.

Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with financial accessibility practices grows strong and sustainable communities (and don’t worry, it’s OK to be confused in the beginning while we re-member the newold).

There are scholarships for movement organisers and activists to participate in the course with stipends for transport.

Payment plans that split your payment into 4 monthly payments are possible. Let us know if you need this in the application form

The form:

This application form has 3 sections: one about logistics, another about costs, and another a self assessment and reflection of where you are at with your roots at this time and your intentions and hopes for our time together.
